- Very efficient cities
- Cities were divided into different residential areas, each dwelling was surrounded by a wall
- The city was divided like a grid
   + North - South streets were very broad
   + East - West streets were very narrow
- The cities had a citadelwhich was a fortress that surroundedthe palace and temple
- The cities also had bath houses that were used by the public and each house had a private bath and toilet as well
- The Harrappan people bathed regularly as a part of their culture ("aquatic people")
- Houses had drains that would carry the waste out to the sewers that ran under the city streets
